Elemental Movement for Grounded Connection & Freedom
Facilitated by Taraneh Sarrafzadeh
Explore the wisdom of the elements through your own body in motion. Reconnect to the flow of nature’s great forces as they live uniquely within you. Through guided and intuitive movement informed by influences from elemental dance, yoga asana, and somatic movement, we will creatively explore and cultivate elemental qualities that offer ourselves embodied connection and even joy & freedom (!) Creative community connection and reflection will be facilitated through writing, sharing, and exchange. Held in a ritual space for all movement experience levels and body abilities, can be modified for seated.
Taraneh was born and raised across Ohlone lands, known as the Bay Area, CA, with cultural and ancestral rivers confluencing from Iran, Philippines, and China. Taraneh is a lifelong student of embodiment in many forms as a path to reclaim, heal, remember, and reimagine our way back to ourselves and to ways of being (individually and collectively) that are restorative, transformative, and liberatory. As a creative ritual facilitator and performing artist, Taraneh commits her work to grounding the intersections of the healing arts, movement, and the wondrous intelligence of the Earth and Creation itself, into accessible experiences for people of all backgrounds and experience levels to explore the possibilities of relation through the portal of their bodies. For her workshop this year, she is especially wants to honor and name her teacher Rosangela Silvestre whose technique, Silvestre Technique, has been very influential to the offering. Taraneh is honored present at Mosaic Festival, having been named a Mosaic Fellow in 2023, with much gratitude to the Mosaic team and BTC for creating such powerful experiences of intercultural celebration and belonging!
